Public transportation is a popular alternative to parking at UCSD. The university subsidizes free, unlimited San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus rides near campus.
To receive a free UCSD/ MTS bus sticker, bring your valid campus ID to one of these offices:
- Campus parking office: Rideshare desk, Gilman Parking Structure
(map),
7 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. weekdays
- Student Business Services: Student Services Center, 3rd floor south, Suite 355 (map), 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. weekdays except Thursday; 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Thursday
- Hillcrest Medical Center: Bachman Parking Structure (map), 6:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays
Affix the sticker to the front of your ID. When you board the bus, show it to the driver.
Note: UCSD/ MTS stickers expire at the end of June every year. Be sure to renew your sticker by July 1.

Monthly transit passes for routes outside the free bus zone are available from the 27th of the previous month through the 10th of each month at the campus parking office and Medical Center Hillcrest parking office in the Bachman Parking Structure (map). Student quarterly passes are only available at the main campus parking office.
