This unit provides counseling and vocational rehabilitation services to staff and faculty who have a medical condition — including problems resulting from alcohol and drug abuse and/or mental stress — that interferes with their ability to work or return to work after a medical leave. Services include:

• Counseling, including career and personal counseling for people with disabilities
• Return-to-work and job accommodation options identification
• Speech recognition software selection
• Job placement, training, and transitional employment services
• Training classes
• Vocational evaluation and rehabilitation counseling
• Fitness-for-duty evaluations

Management consultation is also available for interpretation on reasonable accommodation of a worker with a disability as required by the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disability Act, the California Fair Employment Act, and California Workers' Compensation Labor Code Sections.
