Ordering: Before placing your department cell phone order at the UCSD Bookstore, read How to Order Cell Phones and visit provider showrooms (see a list of local cell phone suppliers) to select the provider and plan you want. Most orders take 10–15 business days.
The UCSD Bookstore is not authorized to carry cell phones in the store, due to UCSD's government contract pricing agreements with cell phone providers.
Cell phone sales and service: The UCSD Bookstore Computer Center, (858) 534-4291, can order cell phone equipment, activations, disconnects, feature additions or removals, and
accessories on a recharge basis. Use the request form.

You can order cell phones on a recharge basis from six different providers. The UCSD Bookstore recommends visiting local providers to select the plan that's best for your department. In addition, click the links below to contact customer service representatives, link to provider Web sites, and learn about any UCSD special offers:
International service: International service varies widely among providers. Calls made while traveling outside the U.S. incur roaming fees. Make sure to ask providers about roaming rates for international calls. Use the links above to contact sales representatives for the latest information.
Cell phone billing: ACT (Administrative Computing and Telecommunications) maintains all cell phone billing responsibilities for departments that choose to have their bills recharged. These services include maintaining all billing records, forwarding monthly cellular statements to departments of record, and making index changes.

Early cancellation: If your department stops your cell phone service before the end of the contract, the provider may charge early cancellation fees.
Using UCSD Cell Phones: UCSD follows the University-wide guidelines (PDF) for appropriate use of cell phones and other portable electronic devices outside of the workplace.
Cell phones for personal use: Most providers offer UCSD employees discounts for personal purchases. For specific information contact
