Eligibility: All UCSD non-exempt, nonprobationary career employees with performance appraisal ratings of satisfactory or better are eligible to participate with supervisory approval. Employees are not eligible if they are are categorized as exempt, limited-career, Temporary Employment Services (TES), or partial year (during furlough periods).
Registration and participation: An employee may register for the Staff Skill Bank for a six-month period. The employee's supervisor is notified electronically when the employee registers or re-registers. Eligible employees are limited to one Skill Bank assignment at a time.
Interview requirements: The hiring authority will notify the Skill Bank participant of possible assignments. The participant's home department may grant reasonable time off for Skill Bank interviewing; the participant must request time off prior to accepting an invitation to interview for any positions. The participant's supervisor will be notified by the hiring authority of possible selection of the participant for an assignment.
Compensation: Participants are paid for all Skill Bank hours worked. Overtime compensation is based on the employee's current position and rate of pay. Participants may be eligible for premium overtime (time and a half) based on UC Policy 32/Overtime (PDF) if the individual works over 40 hours in a work week.
Department responsibilities: Consideration for overtime assignments must be given to department employees prior to accessing the Skill Bank. Hiring authorities and department systems administrators (DSAs) must adhere to online systems access and authorization processes, complete and submit required PPS Update documentation, and report Skill Bank utilization to Human Resources.
