Relocation Assistance for Dual Career Couples

Summary: UCSD provides employment assistance to spouses or partners of staff and faculty members who are new or transferring employees. UCSD also provides information about the local community, as well as referrals to services related to home sales, home purchases, and shipping of household goods. |

Spouse or partner employment services: Although the Employment & Community Outreach Services unit in the Human Resources Department can’t fund or guarantee employment for spouses or partners of new staff or faculty members who are relocating in the San Diego area, it does provide the following career assistance:
- Career counseling
- Resume review
- Referrals to career development resources
- Enhancement of job search skills
- Development of job search strategies
- Job search guidance
Community familiarization services: The Employment & Community Outreach Services unit provides new employees and their spouses or partners with information about:
- Daycare
- Housing
- Schools
- The UCSD campus community
- Entertainment and restaurants
- Community resources and services
Home buying and selling assistance: The Employment & Community Outreach Services unit can put new employees in touch with local relocation specialists who provide the following counseling services free of charge:
- Home selling assistance
- Post-departure property management
- Loan-closing services
- Home purchasing assistance
- Equity advances
- Mortgage placement services
