Three key elements of the University of California Ethics Program were announced by UC's Office of the President in November 2005:
- The Statement of Ethical Values reconfirms UC's commitment to:
- Integrity
- Excellence
- Accountability
- Respect
- The Standards of Ethical Conduct state the conduct expected of UC researchers, faculty, staff, students, and others in 12 key areas, including:
- Conflict of interest
- Confidentiality
- Ethical conduct of research
- Financial accountability
- An implementation program is already underway and includes:
- Appointment of an Ethics Rollout Team to develop and implement strategies for implementation of UCSD's ethics program
- An online Ethics Briefing that is required for all university employees, including student employees. If you need to take this, you should have received an e-mail in early April with instructions and a personalized link to the 30-minute briefing. The completion deadline is June 4, 2007. See FAQs and more info about the briefing.
