The UCSD Staff Association invites staff members and their families to participate in these holiday events on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008:

UCSD dignitaries serve food and coffee courtesy of UCSD Catering. Breakfast includes 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, eggs, and fruit.
- Date: Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008
- Time: 6:30 – 9:45 a.m. Specify seating when you buy tickets:
- 1st seating: 6:30 – 8 a.m.
- 2nd seating: 8:15 – 9:45 a.m.
- Location: Price Center West Ballrooms A & B (map)
- Cost: $6 for Staff Association members, $7 for non-members, or $11 for a ticket and Staff Association membership
Complimentary parking will be available from 6–10:30 a.m. in metered and “V” visitor spaces in Gilman Parking Structure (map), levels 1 and 2.
To volunteer on the day of this event, contact the Holiday Breakfast Committee Chair, (858) 534-5064. Staff volunteers are needed.
Breakfast activities include:
- Toy drive
- Photos with Santa Claus
- Information about how to join different staff associations
- Donation collections for needy veterans and families
- Prize drawings (write your name on your ticket to be included in the prize drawing — winners need not be present to win)
- UCSD Impact Award presentation honoring an outstanding employee who has made a positive impact on campus and in our community
- UCSD Staff Association collections:
- Monetary donations to the Bob Gudgeon Memorial Fund for hospitalized children (Bob was the Staff Association's Santa for many years)
- Used eyeglasses and sunglasses for MEDICO, providing free medical, dental, and optometry care in developing countries
- Food drive for the Neighborhood Networks Town and Country Learning Center in San Diego

Donate a new, unwrapped toy during the Holiday Toy Drive, Dec. 1–16, at an on-campus drop-off location.
Your donation will bring joy to the children at:
- UCSD Medical Center Burn Unit
- UCSD Infant Care Center
- Kaiser Permanente Pediatric Unit
- UCSD Mother, Child, and Adolescent Care
- National City Boys and Girls Club
Following the Pancake Breakfast, Staff Association members, A.S. Volunteer Connection students, Santa, and helper elves will deliver donated toys to hospitalized children. Volunteers will take Polaroid keepsake pictures to leave with each child.
Suggestions for new toy donations:
- Infant gifts: developmental toys, rattles, musical toys, mobiles, stuffed toys
- Toddler and preteen gifts: dolls, trucks, crayons, finger paint, markers, coloring books, CDs, Disney movies, Nintendo 64 games, large block Legos, wooden puzzles, board games
- Teen gifts: makeup, nail polish, lotions, sportswear, sports equipment, posters, movies, CD players with AC adapters
