The UCSD Staff Association invites staff members and their families to participate in these holiday events on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008:
Holiday Pancake Breakfast
- Date: Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008
- Time: 6:30 to 9:45 a.m. (2 seatings: 6:30 to 8 a.m. and 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. — specify a seating when you buy tickets)
- Location: Price Center Ballroom (map)
- Tickets: $6 for Staff Association members, $7 for non-members, or $11 for a ticket and Staff Association membership. See a list of ticket sellers.
Breakfast activities will be planned by the Holiday Breakfast Committee. Staff volunteers are needed to help plan this annual event for staff and their families. Please volunteer by contacting the Holiday Breakfast Committee Chair, (858) 534-5064.
Breakfast activities will include:
- Food and coffee served by UCSD dignitaries
- Photos with Santa Claus
- Toy drive
- Prize drawings: Fabulous prizes will be given away throughout the event. Put your name on your ticket to be included in the prize drawing. Winners must be present.
- The UCSD Staff Association will collect used eyeglasses and sunglasses for MEDICO, a nonprofit company that provides free medical, dental, and optometric care in developing countries.

Holiday Craft Fair
The Holiday Craft Fair is held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 in the Price Center Ballroom during the Pancake Breakfast. Vendors will offer unique handmade crafts such as jewelry, hand-woven baskets, greeting cards, candles, ornaments, painted art, woodwork and more, so don't forget your wallet.

Holiday Toy Drive
Donate a new, unwrapped toy during the Holiday Toy Drive. See a list of dropoff locations.
Your donation will bring joy to the extraordinary children at:
- UCSD Medical Center Burn Unit
- UCSD Infant Care Center
- Kaiser Permanente Pediatric Unit
- UCSD Mother, Child, and Adolescent Care
- National City Boys and Girls Club
Immediately after the Pancake Breakfast, Staff Association members and students from the A.S. Volunteer Connection take the toys to the children. Our Santa and helper elves deliver the toys and take a Polaroid keepsake picture to leave with each child. The smiles and laughs would take your breath away.
Suggestions for toy donations:
- Stuffed toys
- Teen gifts (makeup, nail polish, lotions, sportswear, sports equipment, posters, movies, CD players with AC adapters)
- Infant gifts (developmental toys, rattles, musical toys, mobiles)
- Toddler and preteen gifts (Barbies and other dolls, toy trucks, crayons, finger paint, markers, coloring books, music CDs, Disney movies, Nintendo 64 games, large block Legos, wooden puzzles, board games)
