Lockout/ blockout (LOBO) practices ensure that all energy sources are disengaged or blocked, and that electrical sources are de-energized and locked in the "off" position during work or repair. Read UCSD's Lockout / Blockout Policy (PDF) for complete details.
Training requirements: Employees who directly operate, repair, or maintain equipment or machinery where unexpected energization could cause injury or death must receive LOBO training before beginning work.
Equipment or machinery affected includes, but is not limited to, those with any of the following energy sources:
- Electrical
- Hydraulic
- Pneumatic
- Mechanical
