Safety training helps employees understand and protect themselves, their co-workers, and the environment from hazards typically found in arts and crafts studios, shops, and theaters.
Individual supervisors must identify job-specific hazards and make sure their employees attend safety training appropriate to the type of work they perform.

| Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) |
Required for all employees receiving compensation from UCSD. You need to attend only once in your career.
Note: IIPP training is recommended for anyone working in a high-hazard environment, regardless of payroll status.

| Hazardous Waste Training |
Required for employees who generate any chemical waste from a studio or shop, including paints, solvents, and other material used in visual arts.

| Annual Hazardous Materials Training |
Required annually for employees who work with hazardous materials. Area supervisors are responsible for providing annual hazardous materials refresher training to their individual work groups.

| Hearing Conservation |
Required for employees who, as part of their job, are exposed to noise levels at or above 85 decibels over an eight-hour workday.

| Air Purifying Respirator |
Required for employees who use an air-purifying respirator.

| Recommended training |
| Ergonomics for Trades Employees |
Recommended for employees who perform repetitive motions, stand for prolonged periods of time, operate hand tools, or frequently bend, lean, and lift.

Recommended for employees who move or lift equipment and heavy loads.

| Fire Extinguisher Training |
Recommended for employees working with hazardous materials, equipment, or processes associated with a high risk of fire.

| Dealing with Emergencies at UCSD |
Recommended for all employees who wish to learn about basic preparedness procedures and resources, or their department's role in UCSD's Emergency Operations Plan.

| UC Vehicles Driver Responsibility |
Recommended for all drivers of UC-owned vehicles. Training is available by 2 methods:
- Attend training presented by Fleet Services on the second Tuesday of each month. Contact Fleet Services, (858) 534-3485, to register.

- Schedule custom training: Contact EH&S Risk Management, (858) 534-3820.
