UCSD employees receive a variety of educational benefits, depending on eligibility. Benefits include reduced-fee enrollment or discounts on courses. In some cases, employees may also be able to arrange time off or an alternative work schedule to attend classes.
Types of educational benefits include:
- UCSD Extended Studies and Public Programs (Extension)
Career employees and their spouses or domestic partners receive a 10% discount (up to $50 per quarter) on most UCSD Extension courses with fees of $75 or more. You do not have to complete your probationary period to receive this discount. For information, contact the Extension Cashier's Office, (858) 534-3400.
- UCSD General Catalog courses for fall, winter, and spring
Career employees who have completed their probationary period and work 50% or more are eligible to receive a 66% discount on full-time education and registration fees at UCSD or any other UC campus for up to 3 courses or 9 units per quarter, whichever provides the greater benefit. For information, see Employee-Student Program. Note: Some UCSD degree programs (such as certain graduate programs) are self-supporting and do not offer educational discounts. Be sure to check with the program's home department to confirm that the discount applies.
- UCSD Summer Session
UCSD employees may be eligible for a discount on tuition. Contact the Summer Session Office, (858) 534-5258, for more information.
