How to Place a Call on Exclusive Hold  
 
Summary: The exclusive hold feature allows you to temporarily hang up the phone and then retrieve the call from the same phone. Nobody else can access this call while you have it on exclusive hold.

Note: The information on this page is applicable to all digital phone models at UCSD. You may need to check specific information about your phone and the features available to you.

What you should do How you should do it
1 Activate the exclusive hold feature.
  1. Press the access button (1 or 2) that corresponds to the call.
    or
    Press the unused access button, which will automatically place the first call on exclusive hold.
2 Retrieve the call from exclusive hold.
  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Press the access button (1 or 2) that corresponds with the call.
3 Alternate between two calls that are placed on exclusive hold.
  1. Press the access button that corresponds to the other call.
4 Hang up one call before switching to another.
  1. Press the Clear, C, or E button, which will return you to the other call.
