Express Card: How to Become an Express Card Cardholder  
 
Summary: Follow these instructions to obtain an Express Card.
What to do How to do it
1 Review cardholder guidelines.
  1. Review the cardholder responsibilities.
2 Request a card.
  1. Contact your Express Card Department Administrator (ECDA) to become a cardholder.
    • ECDA accesses ECManager and creates a new account.
NOTE: If you do not know who your ECDA is, contact your business officer.

3 Receive and review the automated e-mail.
  1. Receive an automated e-mail.
    • The Express Card Program Team sends an automated e-mail to the cardholder with further instructions.
  2. Review the e-mail for information on required cardholder training.
4 Complete cardholder training.
  1. Click on the link in the e-mail to Enrollment Central to access the Web-based orientation.
  2. Complete the orientation.
    • Cardholder orientation can be completed in about 40 minutes from any computer with Internet access.
  3. Complete the self-assessment at the end of the orientation.
    • A score of 80% or better is required.
  4. Click Exit the Course to send your results to Enrollment Central.
    • If you have successfully completed the orientation, the course will appear on your Enrollment Central training history. You will also receive an e-mail that verifies your completion of the orientation.
Note: Express Cards are not issued solely on the basis of passing cardholder orientation.

5 Complete the agreement.
  1. Download the cardholder agreement.
  2. Sign and date the agreement.
  3. Acquire signatures from your:
    • Supervisor
    • Department business officer
6 Submit the agreement.
  1. Submit the completed agreement to your Express Card Department Administrator (ECDA).
    • ECDA forwards completed agreement to ECPT Mail Code 0955.
Note: You must complete Steps 1–6 in order to receive an Express Card.

7 Receive your Express Card.
  1. You will receive your card from your ECDA in approximately two weeks.
8 Activate your card.
  1. Contact U.S. Bank by phoning the number that appears on the sticker located on the front of your card.
  2. Follow the prompts to activate your card.
  3. When prompted for your Social Security number, provide your UCSD employee ID number.
9 Sign your card.
  1. Sign the back of your card on the space provided.
