Note: An administrative endowed chair is always attached to a particular administrative position. The candidate must be appointed to the position before being considered for the chair.
Who takes action Action to take
1 Academic Personnel Office (APO)
  1. Prepares the chancellor's letter appointing the candidate to the chair
  2. Sends the letter to the candidate, with copies to the:
    • Senior vice chancellor for Academic Affairs (SVCAA)
    • Donor Stewardship Office
    • Senate Committee on Academic Personnel
    • Divisional dean
    • Department chair (if applicable)
    • Director of development for Academic Affairs
2 SVCAA
  1. Prepares a second letter to the candidate, with the following information:
    • Endowment details
    • Projected annual payout
    • Allowable expenditures
    • Reporting requirements
    • Term of the chair
    • Sends the letter to the candidate within a few days of the appointment letter
3 APO
  1. Sends an e-mail communicating the candidate's response to:
    • SVCAA
    • CAP
    • Divisional dean
    • Department chair (if applicable)
    • Donor Stewardship Office
