Transaction Sampling: Decide if Sampling Is for You

Summary: Answer the following questions to find out if you should participate in the transaction sampling (PWRuP) process.
Questions Answers and resources
Does my department have strong front-end financial controls? Transaction sampling is a valid reconciliation method only if strong front-end audit controls are in place for fiscal processes such as:
  • Procurements
  • Travel
  • Reimbursements
  • Cost transfers
Review the audit guidelines for front-end controls to assess the controls in your department.
Do I have vice-chancellor approval? Before your department can participate in transaction sampling, you might need approval from your vice chancellor's office.

Contact your vice chancellor's office before you begin transaction sampling.
Do I have the correct hardware and software? Your desktop computer must meet minimum technical requirements.
Am I familiar with FinancialLink? Transaction sampling tools are similar to FinancialLink tools. So it's best to understand FinancialLink and the Ledger Reviewer (formerly Ledger Annotator) tool before you begin using transaction sampling.

Take a FinancialLink class through Enrollment Central.

Questions? If you have technical questions about the Ledger Reviewer tool, contact Mojgan Amini, (858) 534-1023. For policy questions, contact Debbie Rico, (858) 822-2797.
