LD50
LD50 (lethal dose 50) is the amount of a solid or liquid material that will kill 50% of a sample population when given in a single dose. LC50 (lethal concentration 50) is a similar term used for gases and vapors.

LD50 and LC50 are widely reported and used to measure the potential toxicity of chemicals. However, these values are comparable only when the age, sex, and nutritional state of the animals in the sample population are specified. In full reporting, the dose, treatment, and observation period should be given.
